What’s going on here?

This is a now page. I’ll mention here what I am up to right now at work, in our homelab, etc. Updates to this page will be infrequent, as I know myself to be a bit forgetful about such things. This was inspired by the movement at nownownow.com ^-^

Work

I’m currently working as a Site Reliability Engineer on the infrastructure part of my employers internal private cloud platform. My current focus is on automation and supporting colleagues to automate.

These days I make infrastructure assets available as self service with crossplane, and I’m working on learning terraform with our Azure Authentication apps as IaC.

Homelab

Most stuff is on hold currently.

Writing scripts and stuff in Go to automate stuff :)

A while ago I set up our internal DNS servers with streaming database replication (with dnsdist, unbound, powerdns, and postgres 16)

Ongoing:

• Building scripts to strengthen homelab resilience
• Automate setups for easier DR ops

Done:

• Set up kubernetes cluster with bgp announcements
• Switched border router and access point to mikrotik
• Rework backups from CIFS (Hetzner Storage Box) to restic (to S3 offsite storage)
• Automate stuff like MOTD, Monitoring agents etc. via Ansible

Recently finished

• Andor: A masterpiece! It lost me after S1 but coming back and rewatching definitely was worth it! Rogue One is my favourite film of the franchise, so I was especially excited that it like perfectly prepares for it! 9,5/10
• X-Wing series: Only until Solo Command though, Isards Revenge comes out soon on Audible! Also like the fifth re-read haha.
• Death Star (novel): I love when different storylines come together! That was probably my sixth re-read and I’ll never get sick of it!
